Both the hosts and favourites to win the World Cup, Brazil will be under enormous scrutiny and pressure at the 2014 World Cup this summer and our man in the know takes a detailed look at their chances in the Stage of Elimination and Top Brazilian Goalscorer betting markets. Where will he be placing his money on the hosts this summer?
Brazil Stage of Elimination:
Paradoxically, Brazil are both the favourites to win the World Cup on home soil yet their stage of elimination odds suggest that they are likely to crash out of the World Cup this summer at the last 16 stage. However, the odds are ambiguous enough to suggest that, as per usual with Brazil, that anything can and will happen!
The longest odds for Brazil to be eliminated come at the group stage and with them facing Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon it is expected that not only with Brazil progress to the knockout stages, but that they will do so as group winners. Should they do this they will face the runners up in Group B, a group that contains Spain, the Netherlands, Chile and Australia. The world champions are expected to top the group, avoiding the hosts, robbing us of what would be an epic last 16 stage clash, and seeing Brazil take on either the Dutch or Chile. There are odds of 3.30 are available for Brazil to fall to either of these teams but, while our World Cup believes that Chile would be a tougher task for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men, our man in the know believes Brazil should cruise through to the Quarter Finals.
There they will face the winner of the clash between the sides finishing first in Group C and second in Group D, with the odds suggesting that these will be Colombia and England. Our expert feels that the South Americans will find a way past the English, but their lack of firepower will let them down against the hosts, seeing Brazil into the Semi Finals. Here they are likely to face Germany in what promises to be a clash of titanic proportions. Failure for Brazil at this stage is available at odds of 4.80, while if they can progress to the final victory is available at odds of 3.70 and defeat 5.30.
Our expert favours a close match between Brazil and Germany, but with a partisan crowd behind them and a climate more favourable to them as well as great attacking threat he sees Brazil moving into the World Cup final against either Spain or Argentina who are most likely to meet in the second semi final. Brazil saw off the world champions Spain last summer in the Confederations Cup Final with a 3-0 win and with Argentina having not beaten Brazil in nine years in a competitive match our man in the know feels the smart money is on Brazil to lift their sixth World Cup trophy.

Brazil Top Goalscorer:
Unsurprisingly, it is the 22 year old striker Neymar that is favoured to finish the World Cup as the top scorer for Brazil. With the Barcelona youngster having scored 30 goals in 47 matches for Brazil, including four at the Confederations Cup last summer where he won the Golden Ball for Best Player at the Tournament and three in his only Brazil match in 2014, it is not a surprise to see him the favourite.
Can anyone else outscore him? Last summer Fred bagged five goals at the Confederations Cup as he claimed the Golden Boot for the tournament and if anyone can prevent Neymar from finishing with the most goals in the yellow of Brazil it will be him. The Fluminense striker scored twice against both Italy and Spain last summer and holds the world record for fastest goal in professional football, which he scored after 3.17 seconds when he played for América Mineiro against Vila Nova. He certainly has an eye for goal, but at 30 can he still match the youngster?
There are a number of other players capable of bagging goals at the World Cup for Brazil with Hulk, Oscar, Willian and Paulinho capable of scoring on a regular basis, but the pace, power and technique leaves Neymar as the front runner for our World Cup expert and this is where his money is going.
